Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving day in Canada. It has nothing to do with Pilgrims and religious freedom. It has to do with Martin Frobisher setting foot on Newfoundland (I think) and being thankful back in 1583. (Feel free to correct me.) If he’d known what was coming (a hard winter in the Little Ice Age, in the Arctic) he would instead have thanked God that there was still time to get home to England.

    • It seems that I don’t quite have the facts right. I guess it was 1578, and he was coming back from the the Northwest. I understand that there is something called “Google” or suchlike on this thing called an internet and you can use use it to fact check – if it isn’t 1 am and you are suffering from a brain drain.
